BEST LOCATIONS FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT IN ICELAND

SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA

Snæfellsnes Peninsula is a scenic 2 drive from Reykjavik. It is referred to as “little Iceland” because of the rich variety of landscapes contained in such a small area. You will find waterfalls, glaciers dramatic cliffs and even black sand beaches at Djupalonssandur Beach in Snæfellsjökull National park.

Snæfellsnes is also the home of the famous Black Church in Budir which always makes for great photos. All this beauty and a fraction of the crowds that you would get in South Iceland near the Golden Circle. I recommend getting a cabin or Airbnb to stay the night so that we can get the most out of our day taking amazing photos on this beautiful little Peninsula

SOUTH COAST

The South Coast is where all the picture-perfect giant waterfalls are as well as The Black Sand Beach at Vik. To quote a guide to Iceland “With its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is widely considered to be the most beautiful example of Iceland’s black sand beaches. In 1991, National Geographic voted Reynisfjara as one of the Top 10 non-tropical beaches to visit on the planet”

The South Coast is gorgeous and Yes there will be busloads of tourists, but we you play our cards right we can still have a magical photo shoot without any bright orange marmot jackets in the background.

Sólheimajökull Glacier

Just 2.5 hours from the capital is this magnificent glacier. With a vivid coloration that dances between a gleaming white, electric blue, and ash black it is one of Iceland's most beloved glaciers to explore. It is easily accessible (as far as glaciers go) you will need a certified glacier guide and crampons but you will be rewarded for your efforts.

We work with Iceland’s best glacier guides to create a relatively easy way to experience getting married on a glacier. Our old friend Magga plays the dual role of both guide AND celebrant. So we have our bases covered.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have your elopement on a glacier in Iceland and one that may not be around forever as Iceland’s glaciers are receding more nad more each year.

JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIER LAGOON

Diamond beach. It’s out of this world. The colors and hues of the blue and the sheer size of the glacier pieces and the BOOMING sound when they crash into the lagoon is all pretty rad. It is a 6 hour drive from the capital so it is outside of our 2.5 hour travel radius. You will need to get a room nearby for yourself and your photographer

REYKJANES

Reykjanes Peninsula is another favorite spot of mine. Reykjanes can be easily tackled in a day from the capital. Some of the most dramatic wave crashing cliffs are located in Hafnarberg. There are geothermal area with giant plumes of steam cascading into the sky. There is some crazy little lake right in the center that is Cerulean blue??? ( I dont even know how these things are possible) my favorite lava fields are in this area also. Reykjanes is also off the main tourist track so we will find ourselves free to explore and have fun.

ICELANDIC HORSES!!

We have connections to a few wonderful Icelandic Horse Farms for a wedding photo shoot. I highly recommend that we schedule a stop at one of these lovely family-run farms for a frolic with the horsies!

Gjain Valley

Little bit of a hike, also the road there is not for the faint of heart, you will need a car equipped for “f-roads” but you will be rewarded with almost full privacy. This valley is covered in winding waterfalls and its great for a day or exploring, relaxing and really digging your heels in. Its a beloved area for Icelanders and they will be impressed that you visited this off the tourist track location.

Or we can have your ceremony at this hidden waterfall less than 45 minutes from the capital!
